Viva con rain water

In the first year of my gardening life, I had a belly flop right away, only mine was still without water. There was a rain barrel, which has a capacity of almost 1000 liters, my only source of rainwater. In addition, 2020 was a very dry year and I really learned to economize with my water. It felt like every container I could find was converted to collect rainwater.

I wanted to be prepared for the following year. I got 6 IBC canisters from classified ads and washed them out. Then I connected 5 canisters in a row and was able to collect two sides of the barn roof.

But 2021 was an absolute rainy year and I suddenly had over 7000 liters of rainwater available…. I noticed that the white IBC barrels started to grow algae very quickly. And so I decided to spray paint them black.

In 2020, 4 more canisters were added. I needed this for the drip irrigation, more on this at another point.
