Save the linden tree, biggest bee friend in the area
Save the linden tree!
This beautiful small-leaved lime is now almost 70 years old and thus one of the largest and oldest trees in Stuttgart Giebel, outside the forest. This was planted by Therese’s grandparents.
In the linden blossom season, there is always a colorful insect spectacle to be seen around this tree. Hundreds of thousands of insects, including many wild bees, bumblebees, etc. spend days collecting nectar. If you stand under the tree during this time, you will experience an enchanting hum that will give you goosebumps from the sheer beauty. It is also home to millions of fire bugs, which live on the ground under the linden tree and feed completely harmlessly on fallen seeds. Unfortunately, they are often referred to as pests, but they are really harmless and very amusing to watch. The lime tree is wonderfully cool in summer and also offers squirrels and wood pigeons a home.
Unfortunately, our linden tree has a worrying Zwiesel and is doomed without the help of a specialist company. Zwiesel means two roughly equally strong arms fork. As a result, a cavity has formed in which water collects and this causes the trunk to rot. Due to the natural vibration of the tree, it cannot heal itself, but tears open again and again.
But you can help the Linde with two different fuses. A rigid security on the trunk and an elastic crown security. With a simple intervention, the lime tree can be saved and it can easily provide another 100 years of living space and clean ambient air.
In addition, some mistletoe must also be removed from the crown, as the entire tree is full and is thereby additionally weakened. We have already spoken to Baumexpress and we already have a cost estimate. Almost 600€ gross are required.
So together we can help the Linde. With your donation you can help us to save and preserve a piece of nature.
